How it started
With almost 30 years experience in the rug industry, creating our own range of contemporary area rugs has always been a dream of ours.
With our store closed to the public during Lockdown 2020, we finally found ourselves with the time to dedicate to this project.
Working from home and with international trade fairs all cancelled, we had to approach this task differently from how we had imagined. Having previously met with prospective suppliers throughout the years, we knew who we would approach to help us create this range.
Research & Development
One of the most important factors to us was that our customers had an input in the collection. We asked questions, ran polls and gathered up all of the feedback we received through our social media channels.
We compiled this feedback with our own expert knowledge of our customers’ needs and identified certain gaps in the market. Most notably, people found it quite difficult to find big, affordable rugs that didn’t compromise on quality.
Countless video calls, emails, spreadsheets and sample designs later, we had finally decided on our very first rug collection!
Naming the Collection
The Home Collection features two different ranges and price points. We knew from the start that we wanted one of these names to reflect the hometown of Rugs.ie, Cork City. This led us to a list of our favourite Cork landmarks and streets, which we whittled down to names such as Honan, Shandon and Lee.
For the second range, we looked to some of the most well-known feminists in history. Being a female-led business, in an often male-dominated industry, this was very important to us. We opted for names such as Angela, Maya and Ruth for this range.
Created for comfort, style and everyday living.
When designing The Home Collection, we always had in mind that we wanted it to be accessible, practical and beautiful. We created a selection of both modern and traditional designs that would work in a number of different style interiors. The Emma rug features a Persian-inspired print, expressed through a contemporary colour palette.
For traditional-style homes, designs such as the Elizabeth and Marlene are excellent choices. Featuring timeless designs in muted colour tones, these rugs will be an elegant addition to any room, particularly living rooms and bedrooms.
The Roxanne and Maya abstract rugs are popular options for busy family homes. Bursting with colour and charm, these rugs are perfect for living rooms, playrooms and bedrooms. At just €369 for the 240 x 320 size, these rugs are certainly big and affordable!
Another highly requested shape from our customers, each style from The Home Collection is available in a runner option. With some designs nearly sold out already, these modern and traditional hallway runners have proved to be very popular.
Whether your decor style is Scandi chic, eclectic or minimalist, you’ll find the perfect runner in The Home Collection.
