Featured Rug: Scion Kukkia Ink
2019 was a big year for interiors. With unique colour choices gaining popularity and interior mainstays proving why they are still so popular, there was something for everyone in this year’s most popular styles. This week we’re looking back on the best 2019 interior trends, including old favourites and bold new directions.
Navy was huge in 2019 and it’s no wonder why. Perfect for when you wanted to avoid typical shades of black and grey, the maritime staple provided the best of both worlds. A clean, defined shade that can be easily styled into any interior; what’s not to love! The Kukkia Ink rug by Scion is an ideal choice for those who want to engage with the trend. Effortlessly contemporary, it’s a guaranteed statement piece.
We wrote all about our love for navy in a blog post here. In it, we delve into how best to style the deep hue.
Navy wasn’t the only shade that caught our eye this year. Cool and earthy, forest green was spotted in many interiors this year due to its amazing versatility. It pairs beautifully with light neutrals such as ivory and beige and creates a luxurious space when styled with gold. Our favourite colour combination so far has been pastel pink. The resulting effect is effortlessly fresh and contemporary; perfect for 2020.
The Ascot Green rug is an ideal choice for those looking to add a touch of forest green to their home. The block colour is easy to pair with busier furniture and accessories, while the viscose border adds a hint of luxury.
One of our stand-out trends from the most recent Maison et Objet, tonal rooms are on the rise. Playing on colour theory, this trend layers multiple shades of the same colour to create a striking visual effect. Any colour will do! Those aspiring to the trend are encouraged to think about colour theory as they decorate. A red room will strike notions of passion and romance, a blue room will create a soothing, calming space. Experiment and see what effect you can conjure, the end result will be a guaranteed talking point in your home.
If you’re aiming for a calming blue haven, the Fading World Medallion Blue rug by Louis De Poortere is a perfect starting point.
The ever-popular abstract style remained a firm favourite in 2019. Ranging from artistic splashes to soothing marbled designs, there is an abstract rug to suit every interior, easily combined with Scandinavian, contemporary and modern style. Interior designer Sinead Cassidy gave us her best tips for incorporating abstract style into your home, available in a blog post here.
Perfect for creating a warm escape amidst the dreary Irish weather, Moroccan style interiors are here to stay. Think exotic lanterns, warm colours and most importantly, a textured rug. We’ve already written about our love for the style. Click here for our breakdown on how to easily add a Moroccan touch to your home.
