Tranquility House, founded by the Julian Benson CF Foundation, provides much-needed accommodation for cystic fibrosis patients and their families whilst they attend hospital appointments, offering a home away from home.
Tranquility House on Room to Improve
Tranquility House was recently featured on Room to Improve. Architect Dermot Bannon worked alongside Julian Benson and Celene Collins Interior Architecture and Design to bring the project to life. The episode documented the transformation of a Victorian redbrick house in Dublin into fully refurbished apartments. The programme highlighted the scale of the restoration, including structural transformations such as re-wiring and plumbing. Seeing the restoration come together on screen was a testament to the generosity of volunteers, businesses and tradespeople who contributed their time and resources.
Why This Project Matters
Cystic fibrosis is the most common inherited disease in Ireland, affecting thousands of individuals and their families. Managing the condition often involves frequent hospital visits, which can be both physically and emotionally demanding. Having a comfortable and supportive place to stay during treatment can make a significant difference for families, helping to relieve some of the stress that comes with ongoing medical care.
Tranquility House was designed to provide exactly that - a welcoming environment where families can stay together while attending hospital appointments. The dedication of everyone involved in the project reflects the strength of community spirit, showing how collective efforts can create spaces that truly support those in need.
Our Involvement
As an Irish-owned company, we were happy to support Tranquility House by donating a selection of rugs for each apartment. We believe that well-designed spaces can act as a sanctuary and we were glad to contribute to such a meaningful project.
Tranquility House was made possible through the generosity of volunteers, businesses and individuals who came together to transform the period property into a welcoming space. Cork-based Interior Designer, Celene Collins, played a key role in bringing the vision to life, ensuring that every detail reflected a sense of home and comfort. It was inspiring to see so many people contribute their time, skills and resources to create a space that offers support to families when they need it most.
