Natural Materials
Many rugs from our handpicked collections are crafted from high-quality natural materials such as wool and cotton. These materials offer exceptional durability and are also biodegradable, making them long-lasting and sustainable additions to your home.

Brink & Campman
All 100% wool rugs from Brink & Campman and their design collaborations, including Marimekko, Laura Ashley and Orla Kiely, are produced with a commitment to animal welfare and responsible farming. A wide selection of Brink & Campman rugs use New Zealand wool which is Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified. RWS is a voluntary standard that requires all sites to be independently audited, ensuring humane treatment of the sheep and protective land management practices.
Brink & Campman’s indoor rugs are also certified by SMETA, an audit framework that assesses responsible business practices in areas such as labour standards and environmental performance.

Persian & Oriental Rugs
Persian & Oriental rugs are skilfully handknotted from biodegradable natural materials, such as wool. Each rug is crafted knot by knot by skilled artisans, using techniques passed down through generations. These rugs are exceptionally durable and can last a lifetime if cared for properly. Many Persian & Oriental rugs achieve their beautiful, rich hues through the use of vegetable dyes which are derived from natural pigments. This is in contrast to the synthetic dyes used in mass rug production.

The Everyday Collection
The Everyday Collection features a selection of timeless Persian-inspired and Moroccan-style designs. This collection is also, proudly, Oeko-Tex® certified. Oeko-Tex® standards are among the most widely recognised in the textile industry for safety and responsible production. These independent certifications make sure that rugs are produced in ways that help to protect the earth’s natural resources.
Care & Fair
At Rugs.ie, we are proud members of Care & Fair, a global initiative dedicated to fighting illegal child labour in the rug and carpet manufacturing industry across India and Pakistan. Some of our favourite collections are certified by Care & Fair including the Rugs.ie x Geri Designs Collection, the Strand Collection and the Ethereal Collection.

Label STEP
Label STEP is a non-profit organisation committed to fair trade and the wellbeing of workers in the rug manufacturing industry. STEP works to facilitate workplace improvements as well as empowering weavers with educational empowerment programs, which cover such topics as health, safety, and financial literacy. Many of our rug collections including our Attraction and Northern Light rugs as well as our bestselling Nordic Collection are Label STEP certified.

Lorena Canals
The Lorena Canals collection includes a wide variety of designs, including playful children’s rugs. These rugs are handmade using natural materials and are certified by GOTS and Oeko-Tex. Beyond materials, Lorena Canals supports life-changing social initiatives such as the Sakûla Project in India, which funds a nursery that provides food and education to over 120 children.
Lorena Canals has also created the RugCycled collection, which turns leftover cotton from the production process into beautiful new designs.

Tisca Respect Range
The Tisca Respect range is handwoven from 100% wool and features soft textured styles and a calming palette. This collection meets the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), often described as the gold standard for organic textiles. It goes beyond material content to consider the entire supply chain, including working conditions and environmental impact. Any product certified by GOTS must be made with at least 70% certified organic fibres and processed in facilities that meet strict social and ecological criteria. Each rug’s organic provenance can be traced from the fields where the sheep graze to the finished piece you bring into your home.
Underlay Collection
All of our rug underlay is Oeko-Tex certified too, so you can be sure that every layer of your rug is made to recognised standards of safety and responsible production.
