When Ciara O’Brien, owner of the award-winning B&B Accommodation Barnahown, set out to restore the property, her vision was to create a welcoming base for visitors exploring the hidden gems of Mitchelstown and the Galtee Mountains. Ciara worked with local artisans and talented Interior Designer, Catherine O’Flynn, to bring that vision to life.
We were delighted to source a selection of beautiful rugs for Barnahown. When we saw the rugs in-situ we knew this would be the perfect space for a photoshoot. We quickly arranged a photoshoot in the beautiful guesthouse, where we shot some gorgeous content, surrounded by the idyllic Irish countryside.
A Retreat Shaped by Its Surroundings
Tucked away in the foothills of the Galtee Mountains, Barnahown is a B&B guesthouse designed for those who seek quiet, comfort and connection to nature. The Galtees offer nearly 30km of walking trails and Barnahown provides the perfect base for an adventure. Ciara has carefully curated a range of walking itineraries that include route suggestions, lunch stop tips, and local highlights, all designed to help guests make the most of their stay.
But Barnahown is as much about returning as it is about setting out. Housed in a mid-1800s farmhouse, the retreat has been carefully restored with a strong emphasis on sustainability, community and low impact luxury.

A Shared Design Philosophy
Interior Designer, Catherine O’Flynn, helped to design the interior of the guest house, paying tribute to the old cottage in all details of the restoration. With the interiors taking shape the final step was to select pieces that would add depth, comfort and a grounded sense of style.
We worked with Ciara to source rugs that would sit naturally within Barnahown’s low-impact design ethos. Crafted from durable, natural materials, each rug was carefully selected for its design, quality and longevity.
The quiet elegance of Barnhoun’s interiors, shaped by a restrained palette and natural materials, offered an ideal setting to capture some of our favourite rugs from our collections including:
Yeti Anapurna: handcrafted from wool with subtle touches of viscose, this rug offers a velvety soft touch underfoot.
Panorama Wool in Grey Blue: featuring a soft ombré pattern that moves between muted blues, greens and purples, adding gentle colour to the space.
Brink & Campman Atelier Twill Honey: handwoven from 100% wool, this versatile rug features a subtle chevron-stripe pattern in warm, caramel tones.

Finishing Touches
Barnahown’s interiors feel connected to the landscape that surrounds them, and we felt so lucky to be a part of that.
We finished our shoot day with a visit to Praline - a café in the heart of Mitchelstown known for its handmade chocolates and exceptional coffee. It’s a local favourite, and the perfect rest stop on your way to the Galtee Mountains.
