Rediscover the Strand Collection

Behind the Scenes of Our Latest Photoshoot Reading Rediscover the Strand Collection 6 minutes

Our bestselling Strand Collection is back in stock at Rugs.ie, with two beautiful new rugs joining the collection. Handwoven from natural materials like wool and jute and inspired by the dramatic and distinctive landscapes of Ireland, our popular Strand collection has been embraced by homes for their soft textures, durability and comfort underfoot.

This season, as we welcome back the Strand Collection, we are delighted to introduce two new additions; Inis Seaglass and Inis Ocean. Inis, the Irish for island, inspires these beautifully handwoven rugs, drawing on the ever-changing greens and deep blues of Ireland's rugged coastline. Inis Seaglass reflects the rich, untamed greens of the shoreline, while Inis Ocean captures the deep, calming blues of the Atlantic, bringing the beauty and character of Ireland's coastal landscape into your home.

Natural Materials, Woven by Hand

Every rug in the Strand Collection is handwoven using materials like wool and jute, chosen for their texture, durability and natural beauty. The result is a collection of high-quality rugs that feel soft and inviting underfoot while remaining practical for everyday life.

Natural material rugs are particularly effective in spaces where you want to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Wool provides softness and resilience, and is considered one of the best materials for rugs because of its strength, durability and comfort, and the ease with which it can be cleaned. Jute is a naturally sustainable fibre that retains its shape beautifully over time, bringing lasting texture and an understated, earthy finish to your home.

The rugs from our Strand Collection enable you to celebrate the detail and craftsmanship found in handwoven rugs, as small variations in the weave give each rug its own character. Available in a range of sizes, these rugs are suited to a variety of spaces and can be styled to complement existing décor or to create contrast, drawing attention to a room's focal point.

Introducing Inis Seaglass and Inis Ocean

Each rug and runner in the Strand Collection is inspired by Ireland's natural beauty, with styles that resemble the colours and textures of the country's dramatic rock formations and dense woodland. Our new additions are inspired by the ocean and shoreline, adding a further dimension to the collection's representation of the landscape.

Both designs are expertly handwoven from soft wool and cotton, combining style and practicality. Their colours reflect the changing appearance of the Irish coastline, where the sea can shift from soft tranquil greens to deep Atlantic blues as the light and weather transforms the landscape.

Inis Seaglass and Inis Ocean

Inis Seaglass

Inis Seaglass brings together soft, layered greens inspired by shallow coastal waters and the natural tones found along the shoreline. Its gentle colour palette brings freshness and warmth to a room without feeling too bold. This rug will pair particularly well with natural wood, soft neutrals and other earthy materials.

If you want to introduce colour into minimalist interiors or to complement an existing palette of greens and creams, the Inis Seaglass could be the perfect rug to complete your vision.

Inis Ocean

Inis Ocean draws on the deep, ink-like blues of the Atlantic. The darker tones give the rug a rich and grounded feel, making it a strong choice for rooms that need depth, contrast or a more dramatic focal point.

It can be paired with a neutral palette for a striking contrast or styled alongside darker woods and layered textiles for a cosy, inviting aesthetic.

Inspired by the Irish Landscape

The Strand Collection takes its name and character from Ireland’s coastline and natural scenery. Many designs reflect a different texture or colour found across the landscape, from weathered rock formations to colourful coastal villages, and are named after the places by which they were inspired.

Burren

Inspired by the Burren in County Clare, our Burren rugs feature subtle lines running across the pile that mirror the cracks and crevices found in the area’s limestone landscape. These understated details give the rug depth while keeping the overall look neutral, which allows a versatile approach to styling.

Skellig

Named after the Skellig Islands, whose rocky peaks lie off the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, the Skellig rug captures the rugged beauty of these remote islets. Its deeply textured pile has been carefully designed to reflect the natural contours of weathered cliffs and ancient stone surfaces adding warmth and interest to any space.

Doolin

The Doolin rug is a tribute to the colourful and idyllic seaside town of Doolin in County Clare. It is the only design in the collection to feature bright pops of colour woven through the pile, which aims to capture the charm and vibrancy of Doolin’s painted houses and lively coastal setting.
